How to use the Song-videos as a Study

The foundation Scripture for this “iChangemusic” ministry is Colossians 3: 16 which says,

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”

We want the message of CHRIST to dwell among us richly. It is such a wonderful thing to be able to enjoy GOD’s wisdom through the message of CHRIST. Think about it. We can have the message of CHRIST dwell among us! For this we should have such gratitude and be eager to praise GOD.

To help us receive that message through psalms, hymns and songs, here are six study steps that are easy to remember through the acronym- PRAISE. As you study:

Pray for guidance- Pray silently, individually for guidance from the SPIRIT

Refer to Scripture- What is written in the Bible about this subject?

Apply to life- What is the life application?

Inspire- How does this inspire you?

Share- With whom can you share this wisdom?

Enjoy- Be happy and enjoy, you just learned wisdom from GOD

Watch and listen to each musical video and use this study technique while you discuss it or reflect on it. Remember, the SPIRIT will guide you to hear and see what HE wants for you. Trust in HIM.

Listen to the lyrics carefully as you view the music-video to discern the message.

While viewing or immediately afterwards, make notes of:

any lyrics which you want to reflect on and/or discuss
any thought you want to discuss
any Scripture that applies

To facilitate discussion, one can use this general technique for study with these probing, open-ended questions:

Having watched the music video, what are your impressions?
Did the music video remind you of something or someone? What/who?
What was the story or message of the music video?
How does the message apply to you or someone else?
How might you use this music message to share JESUS with someone?
What did you learn about the world?
What did you learn about yourself?
What did you learn about JESUS’ teachings?
How can you apply this to life?
How might you use this to share the Gospel and with whom?
